Ullambana Ksitagarbha Dharma Function

In order to promote filial piety and to emulate the model of Maudgalyayana, who release his mother’s suffering from hell through the various offerings to the Shangha Community. Fo Guang Shan Temple will hold the Samaya Dharma Functions of Compassion and Repentance from 27th July to 17th August 2008. Merits will be transferred to the contributors, their families and the deceased ancestors. This is an opportunity for you to pray for your entire family to obtain peace and prosperity.

The Ksitigarbha Dharma Function of Filial Piety

On 3 August 2008,the Venerable Abbess Manshin led all of the Venerables and a large group of 150 participants in a recitation of the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra at the Ksitigarbha Dharma Function. During the sermon, the Abbess explained the meaning and significant of the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and showed how profound the progression of Kitigarabha Bodhisattva's Bodhisattva path was.

The Abbess asked if we were born within the Buddha's time, what sort of questions would we ask of him? She encouraged everyone to resolve our Bodi mind, which is a very important impression of Mahayana.

One of the sutras stated that the following is true: "If a person performs a lot good deeds, but does not resolve his or her Bodhi mind, then those good deeds will result in negative karma". He or she will only obtain worldly fortune and will be unable to achieve perfect enlightenment.
