Fo Guang Shan NZ Summer Camp New Year’s Celebration Night – Offerings of Dharma Words from Venerable Master Hsing Yun

On the night of 4th January 15 youths from the Fo Guang Shan summer camp gathered to hold a New Year’s celebration night. Special guests Venerable Abbess Manshin and Venerable Rulian were invited to give talks.

During the discussion, attending members had many queries regarding the cycle of life, thus many questions were raised, such as:

• How does Buddhism deal with living and death?
• How to face the cycle of rebirth?
• Details about the cycle of rebirth

The Abbess explained that rebirth gives us a lot of bright hopes for the future, because life cannot be extinguished, hence we should actively strive to be better and more wholesome. Death is just like our old house becoming rundown so we have to move into a new one. Through this cycle of rebirth since timelessness, everyone should be the master of their destiny, thus letting the solemn temple become a place for us to accomplish Bodhi Wisdom through this endless rebirth.

The youths reported their experiences and learning obtained during the summer camp, and selected their favourite Dharma words from Venerable Master Hsing Yun to share with everyone.
