01 / 10

Alison Cole, an Australian embroidery artist, with her friend Margaret Light and Alison Snepp arrived in New Zealand Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery 2 on 11th July to see the “New Zealand Embroidery Association Award Exhibition.” They also arrived to visit the Art Gallery’s Curator Venerable Abbess Manshin. On the day, curator Venerable Abbess Manshin, supervisor Venerable Jue Xi and Fo Guang Yuan Public Relations See Shen Lee and many other staff together welcomed them all. Embroidery artist, Alison Cole visited Yao Hong Ying’s Embroidery Exhibition in the year 2009, thus she has a very good relationship with Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery and she always visited with her warmest greetings.

Alison announced that her return to Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery let her feel very humble. She was gratified that Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) New Zealand and many embroidery enthusiasts’ art could be exhibited. Also, Alison was grateful and thankful for the New Zealand Embroidery Association invitation to her and her friends to come visit Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery to visit the embroidery exhibition. Alison felt incredible when she found out that Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery gave relief to the victims in the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake.

Alison told Abbess and everyone that arrived on the day that in the past three years she had visited Auckland Fo Guang Shan and she said the building there gave her a sense of serenity. She shared with everyone her latest 3D embroidery art work. Her dedicated and well handmade and unique 3D Embroidery art work took her 800 hours to complete. Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery presented her with (“Ren Jian”) and a 2013 Fo Guang Shan New Zealand Calendar as a gift to Alison. Alison on behalf of her friends and herself thanked Abbess and the Fo Guang Yuan team for their hard work that they put for their arrival. Alison and her friends were very surprised and gained a lot in this trip.
