New Zealand Young Adult Division at “Australian New Zealand Buddhist Youth Conference” – Amazing Discoveries

On the morning of 3rd June, 7 members of NZ YAD, under the leadership of Tina for team 1, and Annjo for team 2 boarded the flight to Perth to attend the ANZBYC (Australian, New Zealand Buddhist Youth Conference). During the trip, all attending youth had to wait for 10 hours at the Brisbane air port for a flight transfer.

Upon arrival, under the planning of the temple, Uncle Charlie took the youth on a half day trip through the Gold Coast, where they learnt about the local culture through every opportunity encountered on the way. Then everyone went to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to experience Australia’s natural wilderness, which allowed everyone to better understand the importance and value of caring for the environment. While inside, Alvin and Jeremy both courageously touched a live snake! Despite the snake’s scary appearance, everyone overcame the fearful obstructions within their mind and bravely faced up to the challenge.

At noon, Uncle Charlie took the team through the beautiful Gold Coast again and treated them to a delicious local meal. To show their appreciation for the loving kindness of Uncle Charlie, the youth took a huge group photo with him to remind each other of this wonderful experience. Uncle Charlie is very touched by this heart felt gesture.

The NZ YAD team finally arrived in Perth at night, where they joined the local youth group for the up coming conference.
