01 / 05

On 24th June, the BLIA Lay Dharma teacher Eric Chang, while en route to attend the “Australian & New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educator’s 2012 conference”, took the time to visit the temple and give lecture to members of the Young Adult Division. Eric used the method of Q&A to explain the topic of “How to apply Buddhism to our everyday lives?”

On the day, Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Juexi and 15 youth joined the lecture. From subjects such as “Why should we refrain from drinking?” and “How to improve the relationship with our parents?” the youth are given practical advice from many other similar daily examples. Eric used many real life experiences to explain the reasons behind upholding the 5 precepts, practicing the 3 the good deeds and the 4 giving. The youth learnt that only through self-confidence and confirmation, can one experience life’s true meanings and values. If we can have the right attitude and communication skills, we will develop harmonious relationship with our parents. If we can learn to improve ourselves from negative conditions, we will surely create more values in life.
