Discovering the Buddha during turning points in our life

01 / 05

The Weekly Living Dharma Class on the 20th of June was conducted by Fo Guang Shan North Island’s Minister in Charge Venerable Juexi, with the topic being “Discovering the Buddha during turning points in our life”.

Throughout the journey of our lives we will meet many different kinds of people, some are good, some are bad, some are benefactors, and some are foes. A person with right views and thoughts will not meet unwholesome people, as our thoughts acts like magnets, wholesome thoughts will attract good conditions, and unwholesome thoughts will attract bad conditions.

Buddhism includes both psychology and management skills. We should use the five precepts to monitor our life style and practice the three good deeds (Do good things, speak good words, and think good thoughts) to ensure the health of our mind and body. We should take a responsible attitude when it comes to the wellbeing of our mind, as every thought we generate will affect our behaviour. We should not neglect to do even the smallest of good deeds. We should understand the law of Cause and Effect, and realise that faith is more valuable than possessing family fortunes. We should join heart to heart with the Buddha, make Dharma propagation our task, and make benefiting others as our mission. If we take responsibility with our body and mind, tomorrow will surely be a brighter day.
