Post Wedding Blessing for Hiking & Norwind
Former Fo Guang Shan New Zealand South Island Youth Adult Division (YAD) president Hiking Liu and Australia Melbourne YAD member Norwind Khor were married last year 31st December 2011 at the Buddha Memorial Centre alongside about 200 other couples coming from around the world, under Master Hsing Yun’s witness and blessing. To show their gratitude towards Fo Guang Shan (FGS), Venerable Abbess Manshin, venerables and temples devotees who helped them to grow in wisdom, Hiking and Norwind hosted a wedding celebration and blessing ceremony at the FGS South Island New Zealand on 22nd April 2012 at 4:30pm, Venerable Abbess Manshin been invite to lead a prayer for them.
The distinguished guest on the day were Buddha Light International Association (BLIA) North Island President Dolly Tsai, BLIA South Island President Seeshen Lee, BLIA Advisor John Lai, FGS Dharma lecture Rona Chen, various BLIA NZ members, BLIA YAD youth members and family members, making the total number of guests to be more than 200. Venerable Abbess Manshin alongside Venerables led the congregation in chanting the “Heart Sutra” and reading the prayer for couples written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Abbess encouraged the couple to cherish each other's good fortune and fate, to create a happy and fulfilled Buddhist family.
To show gratitude to the attendees of the ceremony, a special dinner was held in the dining hall where Hiking and his younger brother Jason became MCs for the night. Abbess talked about Hiking’s when he first came to the temple, he became determined to change himself to become a better person to serve the community, and develop a strong YAD team. Hiking’s success today is because of experiences and wisdom acquired through Buddhism, because he found a direction in life with goals. Abbess encouraged him to continue his service to Buddhism so that the next generation of youth can follow his lead. Hiking’s parents thanked everyone for attending the celebration taking care of each of their family members, creating a harmonious and happy family. Norwind’s parents also had the same views and were very satisfied and happy.
The special dinner gathering was touching and full of joy. Hiking and Norwind thanked everyone who attended, because of this big family’s assisting and for helping out, and also promised to serve the temple and those who benefit from it, vowed to always be disciples of Fo Guang Shan.
