Sharing the Wisdom and Experience of Life

01 / 08

The Buddha Light International Association (BLIA) New Zealand Youth Adult Division (YAD) members from North and South island had the honour to share what they have learnt from joining the youth group with Venerable Abbess Manshin in a group session on 21st April. The Abbess thanked the youths for volunteering themselves in Buddha’s birthday blessing ceremony and invited them to share their thoughts about the event.

BLIA member, Sheng Song Gan started the sharing by expressing his gratitude to Abbess and Venerable Jue Xi for giving him the opportunity to be MC. BLIA youth from Brisbane, Paul Yuan, continued the sharing after him. Paul shared his experience in Australia’s YAD group and what he had learnt from it. Another youth, Allan asked Paul about the balance between attending temple activities and taking care of his studies. Paul said to him that if he treats temple as his second home, he will always have time for both. He ended his sharing by encouraging everyone to be humble and always try to learn from the venerable for they are the wise ones.
The BLIA South Island director Jason was the last person to share his story. He first went to the temple at eight and has never failed to turn up ever since. He learnt a great deal from getting himself involved in the events organized by the temple committee. This time, he played an important role in making Buddha’s birthday day blessing a success as well. He became more skillful from time to time because of the efforts that he has put in. He encouraged all the youths to never stop improving themselves as there are always rooms for improvement.

Last but not least, the venerable Abbess Manshin thanked everyone for sharing their thoughts and stories. She ended the session by telling the youths that the temple will always be their shelter and they are always welcome. She reminded the youth to learn from the ones who are more experienced and continue to do their best for Buddhism.
