Baby Blessing in Fo Guang Shan South Island

Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand held baby blessing event during a Buddha’s Birthday Celebration on 21st April at 1pm. Approximately 50 newborns and their parents participated the event. FGS New Zealand Abbess Manshin with Venerables chanted The Heart Sutra and the “Prayer for the New born” written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. After the blessing, Abbess performed blessing to all the babies that participated and gifted them with chanting beads, wishing them to grow up peacefully. At the venue a lot of people were surrounding the place where baby blessing was taken place, all of them witnessed this rare, meaningful and joyous event. All the parents took out their camera to capture their babies getting purified. All the parents were appreciated to Abbess, venerables for blessing their newborns, also they hoped their own newborn babies could be blessed by the Buddha during the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration and can be like the Buddha, be successful and be an asset that serve the society in future.
