30th March–2 days workshop on Chinese languages and Culture
After the 4 year old kindergarten children left in the morning. BLIA received a group of teachers in the afternoon for a temple tour and a tea reception.
There were 18 teachers from the NZ Chinese Teaching Trust and The Chinese Language Foundation and of them, 9 were Chinese teachers teaching in the primary and high school students. The organiser planned a 2 day programme, including, Chinese cooking class, Chinese tea appreciation and Chinese opera etc.
The purpose of the BLIA temple tour was to learn about the architecture and the philosophy of Buddhism and its influences to the Chinese culture. Then members proceeded to the Waterdrop tea house for an afternoon tea.
The spokesperson for this event, Ms Zhang mentioned the purpose of this event is to heighten the quality of Chinese language teaching.
