BLIA South Island's Directors and Monthly Meeting

Buddha’ Light International Association (BLIA) South Island New Zealand 2012 first Director and Monthly Meeting held on 3rd March in Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Main Shrine, host by New BLIA president See Sheen Lee, FGS New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin and Temple supervisor Venerable Jue Xi as Counseling Venerables in the meeting, Venerable Miao Yu, Vice President Gina Chen, West one sub chapter president Susan Wu, Directors Jack Liu, Susie Lee, Benny Wong, Youth Adult Division (YAD) Group leader Hao-Tin Lin and approximately 30 member attended.
In the report, President See Shen Lee state that several activities were planned such as Buddha’s Birthday, Mid Autumn Festival Celebration, form a visiting group to Buddha Memorial Centre (BMC) and etc. Susan Wu, president of West one chapter reported the Mother’s day celebration and Labor Day visiting trip; YAD ground leader Hao-Tin Lin reported on preparation to join the Australia New Zealand Buddhist Youth Camp (ANZBYC) in Perth.

In the meeting, thirteen of the agenda have discussed and approved which included employ the James and Tiffany as new BLIA secretary and treasurer; YAD proposed the fundraising activities to gather some fund for joining ANZBYC; proposed to form visiting group to the BMC; encourage member to participate the 2012 BLIA world Headquarter General Conference; encourage BLIA New Zealand member to register as short term BMC volunteers; propose the BLIA New Zealand north and south island gathering and etc.

In dharma sharing, Abbess stated that Fo Guang Shan provided a world stage for BLIA members, by serving the public can unleash the potential, also develop our wisdom and life ; as the BMC construction is finished, the world have witness the influence of Buddha, as a BLIA member which we should protect and propagate the glory of Buddha. Abbess also sharing the north island BLIA member that work together to cover the temple garden with the tree bark before the storm approached, the team devoted to finish the job with efficiency, and enhance the beauty of north island temple’s garden.

Abbess also stated that she invited by New Zealand Minister of Ethnic affair represented Buddhism of New Zealand to attend the 6th regional interfaith dialogue which held in Semarang, Indonesia on mid-March, it is due to dharma propagating of BLIA member in New Zealand is affirmed by the public. Abbess encourage member to be active and don’t afraid to unleash our capability. Members been courage and hope for they can help the Buddhism to achieve more missions.
