01 / 05

FGS Art Gallery's Creative Director Abbess Manshin, supervisor of FGS Art Gallery Venerable JueHao and 10 BLIA members attended the art competition opening ceremony on the 17th of February.
The Uxbridge Manager Tony Morgan was pleased to see the support of FGS, and he exchanged ideas on the setting of art gallery with Abbess ManShin.
This was a 6th term art competition sponsored by the Howick Local Council to promote the art festival. The theme for this year is “protection of the Tamaki Estuary against all forms of pollution”. This was an open competition and a platform for all art lovers, where they are free to use any context to express their works. The competition has received great support and acknowledgement from other NZ artists too. Hence, a wide range of art works were used, abstract art, oil painting, hand craft, wood carvings, fabric works etc. The winner of this competition was Penny Lin, a Chinese-Taiwan migrant; her painting was a fish in the form of oracle bone script.
These works will be displayed in FGS on the 17th of March, to allow the members of public to view these works.
