Dharma function - Buddha Light offering - 5 Feburary
The Buddha light offering commenced at the beginning of the New Year. Abbess Manshin led 150 devotees in chanting [Kuan Yin Bodhisattva- Pu Man Pin and Prayer for Buddha Light Offering]. Abbess Manshin then gave a talk on Kuan Yin Bodhisattva and the multiple forms to propagate dharma to all sentient beings.
Enlightenment in Buddhism has no form and is free from attachment. However, this differs from a lay-Buddhist in proclaiming "Buddha nature is within, hence it is not required of me to propagate the Triple Gem (Buddha, Dharma and Sanga)". Unfortunately, a human is only a future Buddha, we need to put good thoughts, action and words into practice, and we need to use our form (body) to reflect a good and positive mannerism. Abbess Manshin quoted "Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, also known as Great Compassion Bodhisattva, can transform into different forms to propagate dharma to sentient beings of different needs. The difference between a copper-made Buddha status and a copper-made instrument is that a Buddha has endured many thousands of cuts by chisel and hammer, whereas a copper made instrument makes the loudest noise with a gentle hit. This does remind us that we do act like one."
