2 Buddhist Wedding Ceremonies held by 2 different ethnic groups
11.11.2011
On sequence marriage date, FGS held 2 wedding ceremonies, one in the morning, 11am and another one at 3 pm. Venerable Abbess Manshin was the celebrant for both wedding.
For the morning ritual, the Taiwanese groom and a Malaysian bride with a total of 110 guests were invited to witness this sacred wedding, Heart Sutra and a composition of “Prayer for Blissful marriage” was recited in this ceremony. At the conclusion of the service, the Abbess advised the couple that to sustain a marriage, they must learn to respect and face adversity together.
Then at 3pm that same day, FGS had hosted its first Buddhist wedding for a non-asian couple. The Maori couple, with Matene Heremia Wilson as groom, bride Evangeline Ngamihi Tuhua, their bridesmaids and best men arrived in 2 limousines. They had planned this wedding one year ago, had 120 friends and relations to witness this blissful ceremony. Venerable Abbess Manshin led them to Main shrine with the guests, held formal procedure; lastly, she recited the composition“Prayer for Blissful Marriage” written by Venerable Master HsingYun. All the guests were mesmerized by the temple ambience and its tranquillity and gave their warmest blessing to the newly married couple with a round of applause. Some guest has point out, they had attended different types and style of wedding, but none was felt as tranquil and divine as this Buddhist wedding ceremony.
