Temple Tour for North Shore Widows' and Widowers' Society Incorporated

On this sunny day, there were 20 seniors citizens from North Shore Widows’ and Widowers’ Society Incorporated a planned guided temple tour as part of their monthly activity.
This temple tour was lead by volunteer, Amanda at 10am. The tour started from Front Shrine with a concise description on the meanings of the Buddha and the Bodhisattva. Lead to the field of merit and its meaning to remind us on cultivating one’s cause and its effect, relating to an English saying “what’s come round, goes round”. Then the elderly from the group replied “it is also call the Karma”.
The group walked through the Zen garden in the courtyard, then to the Main Shrine, where a brief description about the values of Humanistic Buddhism, the 3 timeless poisons and 3 counteracting solutions; the 5 precepts observed by a Buddhist. The elderly were mesmerised by the lamps and decorations at the altar for the Medicine Buddha Dharma function. They were delighted to see lamps lighted for the All Blacks.
Then they proceeded to visit exhibitions and were amazed by Fay’s Hand painted Chinaware. They will definitely tell their friends and relations about it and re-visit the temple.
