Prayer for Medicine Buddha

In approaching the Medicine Buddha’s Day, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island held the “Medicine Buddha Dharma Function” on October 21, 2011 with 70 devotees attended. Temple supervisor Venerable Juexi presided in the chanting the name of Medicine Buddha, “The Medicine Buddha Sutra”, the reading of “Prayer for Medicine Buddha” and many more. The offering of lights lit up the Buddha Hall giving auspiciousness, protections and merits to everyone, moreover giving a meaning of illuminating better hearts and lives to them.

Venerable Juexi then gave a Dharma talk explaining how the Medicine Buddha heals the hearts and body of everyone by chanting the Medicine Buddha Sutra. By reading and understanding the sutra, one will also be free of worries and eliminate unwanted troubles.

The venerable then explained that they are a few levels that a normal human being normally goes thru, which are the “Level of Life and Death”, “Level of Love”, “Level of Materials” and other levels which we have to use the right concentration to work it out. It is like the “Three Higher Learning” of Buddhism and it will grow with life. It has to have the right effort to make thru different levels that needs compassion, a Buddha’s heart and kind conditions.
