YAD Benefited in Learning from the Abbess
7 members from the Young Adult Division (YAD) of the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island which includes the YAD President Hao-Tin Lin, Vice President Fan-Ping Chiang, brothers Jordan Wong and Chris Wong, with the others spent time with Fo Guang Shan New Zealand’s Abbess, Venerable Abbess Manshin in a discussion of life experiences and learning on October 13. It was in the concern of the Abbess on what have been learned by the youths in the event of a recent YAD activity “Heart of a Child”. First time participating youth, Dean Gibson expressed that he is very happy in learning the spirit of teamwork and knowledge about Buddhism. President Hao-Tin Lin then expressed, the “Heart of a Child” event was a success where it also brought in University Canterbury students like Cory Carlton to have an interview with YAD members after the event. The news will also be out on Christchurch’s major newspapers where teaching everyone Three Good Deeds will be a spread out.
After all the YAD members shared what they have learned recently, the Abbess shared with the youths in understanding the Six Internal Bases, Six Fields of Senses and Six Consciousness, which includes the correct use of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body and mind. Everyone was amazed from the Buddhism teaching. In that, the Abbess encouraged the youths to be cautious in using the senses, manage them carefully and understand the meaning of living in the moment.
