01 / 10

The year’s first bakery class for Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island took place on August 28 demonstrated by the experienced chef Gina Chen. With different types of sweet mooncakes which are ‘heaty’ being sold in many Asian markets around town, Gina decided to demonstrate newly customized “Vegetables Mooncake” and “Handmade Maltese Sun-cake” which attracted around 20 members that include BLIA South Island West Subchapter President, Susan Wu, North Subchapter President, Christine Wang, Louisa Kuo, Heidi Lee, Quiny Liu, Luping and many more excited members.

Gina first encourages everyone to remember the steps, and learn the real purpose of this class which are to try it back home and share it with friends and family. In saying that, everyone learned making the dough, the stuffing, the skills and waited impatiently for their new cakes to be ready in the oven. In the learning process, students earnestly taken notes and ask questions enthusiastically. Only then, the students realized there’re lots of knowledge in bakery, even it’s a small cake. Finally, everybody tasted the delicious cake which has thin skin, soft stuffing, and doesn't stick to the teeth. They happily gave extremely high compliments and couldn’t wait for the next bakery class to come.
