NZ Police Inspectors experienced Rich Asian Culture in Fo Guang Shan (North Island) NZ
On 16 August, 10 NZ Police Inspectors from CSA and Intelligence Unit visited Fo Guang Shan (North Island) NZ. The visit was organised by Asian Liaison Officer Justin Zeng and they were hosted by Abbess Manshin, Venerable Manwang and BLIA (North Island) NZ President Dolly Tsai. These visiting Police Inspectors are from Counties Manukau Police District and they work closely with the Asian community. In order to communicate more effectively with the different ethnic groups and to ensure their needs are attended to, they hope to gain a deeper insight and understanding of the various Asian cultures and their languages through this visit. Asian Liaison Officer Justin Zeng said that most of these Police Inspectors have a strong interest in Asian cultures and can converse in simple Mandarin. They expressed their hopes of learning more about Buddhism, the Asian culture and languages thus this visit to the temple. After paying their respects to the Buddha in the Main Shrine, Abbess Manshin explained the Basic Buddhist Etiquette and the origin of the Teahouse among other things. The Police Officers had a delightful time and were presented with momentos. It was definitely a fruitful trip for them.
