01 / 05

On 14 August, Fo Guang Shan (North Island) NZ held the Three Periods of Contemplation Dharma Service to dedicate merits to all the benefactors taking part in the Ullambana Festival, Sangha Offering Dharma Service and the Christchurch earthquake victims. Abbess Manshin presided over the ceremony which was attended by 300 devotees who recited the Amitabha Sutra and the Buddha’s name. Abbess Manshin praised the devotees for their diligence as they had been attending the Dharma service since early morning. She encouraged everyone to walk earnestly towards Buddhahood . Through one’s effort and vow to cut off all defilements, learn the dharma consistently, help all sentient beings and attain Buddhahood, by purifying one’s speech, body and mind, is in fact the sincerest offering of all.
