Back to Basics in Ending the Last Winter Class
The last day of July was also the end of Sunday Buddhist College Winter Class where Reverend Juexi lectured around 30 students. The class started with a few questions from the students and Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island English-Subchapter member, Peter Stuart had asked good questions about rebirth, karma and cause and effects. After the reverend answered the questions, she advised students to not think too much about the past but to make good use of life now, value every current moment and manage our days practically building a stronger and better person in oneself. In that, take every chance to build your merits and create good karma.
The evening continued as Reverend Juexi lectured about the basics of Buddhism, which are the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. The “Three Bodies of Buddha” that includes the “Truth Body”, “Enjoyment Body” and “Miraculous Created Body” were discussed in the class. Besides that, the “Three Virtues of Buddha” as the “Virtue of Wisdom”, “Virtue of Compassionate and Perfection of Grace” and “Virtue of Freedom and Liberty” were also discussed. The class ended with Reverend Juexi explaining “Praise for the Buddha”, “Praise for the Dharma” and “Praise for the Sangha”, a part of the “Amitabha Pure Land Thrice Yearning Congregation Recitation and Chanting”. The "Praise of the Buddha" was also practised in class. In that, she encourages the students in propagating the teachings of Buddha, vow to give strength in Buddhism, contribute to the society, and with these, it will bring a healthier look, more dignified body physically and spiritually, in addition, perishing bad karma.
