Breaking the Ice for its Original Beauty

01 / 06

After July 24, Christchurch’s first snowing day after at least 15 years, the beautiful scenes has been infatuated as the snow melts bringing dusts and sands sticking on the ice. It not only spoiled the beautiful scene, it is also slippery and dangerous for passersby no matter on foot or by wheels. As Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island has the traffic of at least 100 people a day, on July 28, under the lead of Venerable Abbess Manshin, other venerables and 8 volunteers started a cleanup on Riccarton Road. With the right intention to bring safety to everyone using the road, pavement and sidewalks, while the cleanup was in progress, passersby gave words of gratefulness such as: “You’re number one!”, “Well done” and so on; as there were not much places that’s really clean from dusts, sands and small rocks around the area that day.
