01 / 10

On July 16, the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island West-subchapter had a Study Group in the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island Water Drop Cafe where Venerable Miao Yu, the West-subchapter’s Vice-President Hydie Lee and 12 members participated in the reading of article “Environmental and Spiritual Preservation” by Venerable Master Hsing Yun given at the 2010 World Headquarters General Conference. The 21st century is the century of preservation, where protecting the earth should be aware; henceforth, the article has explanations of reasons for globing warming, temperature raise, the destruction of the ozone layer and all other signs that shows enormous threat to human survival in the future. With this, the class has started a discussion about this topic. Venerable Miao Yu then advised, no matter when the end of the world would be, we must first start from our self to save and not to over purchase unwanted things. Then, understand the teachings of Venerable Abbess Manshin, put down all the unwanted worries, understand completely on what are the core questions to a problem, begin answering and practice the “Three Good Deeds” in facing any problems of life in a positive way.
