Environmental & Spiritual Preservation Reading Class
At 10.30 morning of June 11, the West Sub-chapter of Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island organised a reading class at the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island Buddha Hall. West Sub-chapter President Susan Wu thanked everyone in joining on the reading class where “Environmental and Spiritual Preservation” was the subject for the day; she was also honored to have FGS NZ Venerable Abbess Manshin attending the class in giving better understanding and answers to their questions about Buddhism to the 30 students.
In viewing on the subject of “Environmental and Spiritual Preservation”, Abbess explained, a heart of the human being is like the earth, both needs attention and maintenance. She continued, everyone should benefit knowledge compassionately, learn more from the temple, lead the heart into peace, delicate, joy and health; this is the way to Spiritual Preservation. Abbess also quoted from Venerable Master Hsing Yun, “To live for one self is too selfish, to live for a family is too much of a burden, but to live for the people is great, to live for the society is never-failing”, which means, one must express from own heart, to live their life in helping more people to lead a more valuable life. When we face problems and sufferings, we must let our self in tranquil and find the solution peacefully and the feeling from the innermost will rise out from strong endeavor; there is no use in blaming anyone or any situations, but to find the most refine answer starting from the heart, as an old Chinese saying, “Real gold does not fear the furnace of the fire”.
Students of the class gets all their questions answered filled with joy. The class ended with the students enjoying a delicious meal at the Water Drop Cafe where everyone from the West Sub-chapter class is satisfied.
