Surprising Mother’s Day on a Classical Chinese Era
May 8 is Mother’s Day and it just happened to be the date where the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch had the local ladies anticipating in the exhibition of “The Art of Traditional Chinese Dress – The Beauty of QiPao”. There are around 50 traditional Chinese dresses or QiPao in the exhibition. Moreover, a photo taking session for the locals to try in traditional dresses of a princess or "a young lady in a palace" took place. The locals appreciated in the session where there were brought into the taste of the classical Chinese era. This QiPao exhibition has attracted over 200 guests and over 50 mothers had their own picture in the dress as a memento.
Every mother that has their photos in a QiPao was surprised and happy with their beautiful appearance. Family members that accompanied them also felt the joy and all mothers has expressed this is the most exceptional Mother’s Day that they had.
The impact from the exhibition has brought crowd to Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island Water Drop Cafe where all guests filled in full house. A great number of guests have made early table bookings for their mother to dine in a graceful environment and enjoyed a cake courtesy of the Water Drop Cafe. First time comers also expressed, “It is such a special place, I felt really surprised”.
On this Mother’s Day, FGS South Island has a continuous crowd which sums up to around 300 guests this afternoon. It is a day of the highest tide for FGS South Island after the highly crowded Yao Hung-Ying Embroidery exhibition and the recent Christchurch 22nd February earthquake making today an inspirational day. Members of the Buddhist Light International Association (BLIA) South Island had honored the spirit from Venerable Master Hsing Yun to “Give” and serve the society, wishing that this event gives hope and happiness to everyone in Christchurch after the earthquake.
