Farewell to a Dignified Life
Around 180 lives were lost in the Christchurch earthquake, New Zealand Police Force, medical examiners and everyone has put on a big encouragement in assisting family members of the people that lost their lives to pass sorrowful time. Xinhong Li was one of those who lost their lives in the 222 Christchurch earthquake. On the 26th of March, 1 pm, Venerable Miaoyu, Venerable Rulian and 20 Fo Guang Shan (FGS) members went to the 466 Linwood Avenue Cremation for a farewell and funeral for Xinhong Li. Police officer Mark Glenworth represented the police force in this case. Younger sister Elane Li has represented her parents and family members from Taiwan and her cousin brother that lives in Auckland also flew down to give a final blessing to her cousin sister. Attending also are members of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New Zealand, and Taiwan Society members that sums out to around 30 people. Xinhong is a nurse from Taiwan that wished to explore the world at her young age. She has come to Christchurch to advance her English education hoping graduate and get a nursing job in Christchurch city. At the end of the funeral, her sister, Elane expressed that she will stay a strong life and be filial to her parents.
