CNA Interview at the Memorial Service
The National Christchurch Memorial Service to remember those who lost their lives on the impact of the February 22nd Earthquake was held where His Royal Highness Prince William, their Excellencies the Right Honourable Sir Anand Satyanand GNZM QSO, Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Right Honourable John Key, the Mayor of Christchurch, Bob Parker, the Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Phil Goff, the Minister of Energy and Resources, Honourable Gerry Brownlee, the Prime Minister of Australia, Honourable Julia Gillard, the Leader of the Australian Opposition, Honourable Tony Abbot and representatives of many faiths as Venerable Abbess Manshin represented the Buddhists attended.
Taiwan’s Channel News Asia (CNA) journalists, Wang Sijie and Li Jianwei had made an on-the-spot coverage and an interview with Fo Guang Shan (FGS) New Zealand’s Venerable Abbess Manshin that has just came off stage after making blessings on stage at the memorial. The journalists also interviewed in a better understanding with the upcoming steps in relieving the earthquake.
After going off stage and going through the crowd, Venerable Abbess Manshin finally had a chance to meet with the journalists and had accepted an interview with them. Abbess expressed that Fo Guang Shan NZ will always help out in any relief in not just helping the people in need, but also the government and the other reliefs. The act reflects FGS founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun where Offering Other Convenient should be a way of life. Furthermore, the Buddhist Light International Association (BLIA) and FGS New Zealand will also be co-operating with the re-building of Christchurch city hand in hand with the nation.
