BLIA NZ Earthquake Relief Centre mission accomplished
Its 2 weeks since the 222 earthquake happened in Christchurch. A lot of stores, restaurants and other businesses resumed normal and as for BLIA NZ South Island, the mission of providing hot food to the needy has also completed on the 7th of March. Volunteers had prepared vegetarian food non-stop for these 2 weeks and the receptionists had been busy welcoming people to enjoy food here. On this day, Venerable Abbess Manshin went into the kitchen personally and gave a big surprise to volunteers there with a speech of the mission accomplished.
Since the starting of the BLIA NZ Earthquake Relief Centre, it has welcomed people in need from all races and religions to enjoy hot delicious vegetarian meals. It has relieved a lot of people to forget about their sadness and comforted minds.
Nearly blinded Terrence O’Brien, lost his home when the earthquake happened. He came to the relief centre everyday and gratefully thank all BLIA members that had welcomed him.
4 cyclists also came to the centre for at least 6 days to enjoy their meal while their houses are out of electricity. They were really grateful of what BLIA NZ South Island has done.
