Waikato East Women Institute
During the afternoon of Wednesday 25 June a group of 45 elderly people from the Waikato East Women’s Institute visited the Temple. They began their journey to Auckland at 7am, arriving at the Temple at 2.30pm and completing their tour by 3pm. The early conclusion was caused by adverse weather, with high winds and heavy rain. However, in spite of the weather, they were very co-operative during the tour, which was led by Venerable Miaoyu and volunteer Margaret Sek, and were keen to learn about the architecture, as well as the symbolic and cultural activities of the Temple. With great joy and energy they also took part in Tai Chi and meditation in the Meditation Hall. At the end of their visit, they acknowledged that they hope to return for a longer visit to the monastery.
