Christchurch Earthquake First Week Nation Silence
1st of March 2011 at mid day 12:51pm, 7 days since the 222 Christchurch Earthquake, the nation of New Zealand had 2 minutes silence to grief for those who lose their lives in the disaster. Venerable Abbess Manshin presided more than 20 BLIA New Zealand members in the main shrine to follow the nation’s silence and had light offering for those departed in the earthquake.
From 1st of March, BLIA NZ South Island had set up an altar for the people affected by the earthquake and also had sutra chanting for them and the nation. For a lot of people, especially Chinese, BLIA NZ South Island had been a place in great assistance and comfort, enabling them to have a familiar religion to pray for and letting them make use of time.
In assistance, BLIA NZ South Island will also have a memorial service for those lost in the recent Christchurch Earthquake, the “Emperor Liang Repentance Service”, from 25th March to 1st April. It is also for the survivors to have their health and mind to recover as soon as possible.
