A refuge for the earthquake victims

01 / 04

It has been a week since the major earthquake shocked Christchurch on 22nd February. Although most of the shopping malls and restaurants have resume business as usual, BLIA NZ Earthquake Relief Centre continued to provide free food, medical aid, drinking water and spiritual counselling to the earthquake victims, alleviating the pain of the people in need and relieving the work of many other earthquake relief centres. On the day of 28th February, BLIA NZ Earthquake Relief Centre had distributed approximately 350 packed food to the needy.

On the same day, Fire and Search and Rescue team, Tia and earthquake victim Chris, visited the centre to pack some hot food and medical aid to those who have lost their home. Chris lived around Walthan and New Brighton area which was hit hard by the earthquake. After visiting another relief centre which was over-crowded, they decided to visit BLIA NZ Relief Centre for food collection and were astonished by the serene ambient and friendly environment. Chris decided to bring his family members and neighbours to the temple to enjoy the meals, saying that the ambient has provided a form of healing therapy to rejuvenate their energy.

Another earthquake victim has also visited the relief centre for meal and collected 25 packed foods for her neighbour, thanking the effort of the BLIA NZ Relief team for the best meal she ever had after the earthquake.
