Closing Ceremony For Dale Gallaher Exhibition

01 / 10

After Dale Gallagher’s three month exhibition of his Acrylic Paintings, the exhibition has come to its completion on the conclusion of January 2011. In order for the “Friends of the Art Gallery” members to meet the artist in person, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch organised a closing afternoon tea on 23rd January inviting the curator Venerable Abbess Manshin to attend as VIP guest. The curator expressed that Gallagher is a very talented artist and that New Zealand will get another chance to see his work on display this time at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery one in Auckland around May 2011.

Gallagher gave a demonstration of his work that afternoon, he also noted that before starting his work, he must be in a state of mind with great respect to the tools that he uses. Friends of the Art Gallery also had the opportunity of asking questions including the duration required to complete his work and his inspirations. The guests attending the afternoon tea that day also had the opportunity to win one of his works; they also mentioned that looking at his work allows them to relive their personal experiences when they visited the sites and landscapes recreated on the canvases that they see, giving them a sense of serenity and inspiration.
