Fo Guang Shan ( North Island ) NZ Pagoda Roof Shouting Ceremony

On 27 September 2009, Most Venerable Hsin Ting, President of Buddha’s Light International Association presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Pagoda at Fo Guan Shan ( North Island ). After a year of construction work, the 6 storey main pagoda and at least 60 percent of the construction was completed. On 19th November, a ‘roof shouting’ ceremony was held to mark the completion of the building’s roof according to local tradition. Forty people attended including Abbess Manshin and Venerables, BLIA ( North Island ) NZ Dolly Tsai, Warren Mahoney, Architect Mr Simon Dohh, RML construction manager, Bill Brain and construction employees.
Bill Brain, the site manager of the construction, has dreamt about this project for six times over the year, he has enjoyed working in such a peaceful and serene atmosphere, which according to him, is one of the most enjoyable projects he has ever done. Abbess expressed her ultimate gratitude for the effort made by the construction team, who have overcome various challenges to make this project a success. She hopes that the pagoda not only serves the memories of the ancestors, but will also convey dharma through its architect to enhance everyone spiritually. The construction team was presented Master Hsing Yun’s ‘Wisdom mind, Joyful Heart’ as a memento.
