New Zealand Civil Advisory Board Visit
A group of 14 patrons from the New Zealand Civil Advisory Board visited Fo Guang Shan South Island on 24th November and were given a tour of the Temple by volunteers. The purpose of the board is to provide the general public with information related to governmental services. As a result of prior visit to the Temple by one of the members who had a great interest in the work of FGS Temple, they organised this visit in order for the board to understand more about the contribution FGS Temple makes to the community.
The volunteer gave an introduction to the group the history of FGS New Zealand and the characters of the Temple building. The visitors also admired the four bronze Bodhisattva sculptors on the front façade of the building before being escorted to the Buddha Hall where they learnt that it is a space designed to bring peace and harmony to the hearts of its visitors. A tour of the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery 2 and the Stone Teapot exhibition soon followed before the conclusion of the Temple tour. The visitors gave their thanks to the volunteers and their newly found understanding of the purpose and role of FGS South Island.
