On 6 November, Venerable Manwang, Venerable Rulian, BLIA President Dolly Tsai and 8 other BLIA members attended the official opening of New Zealand’s first international carnival organised by Giving Back Foundation Trust. The VIPs and visitors were first welcomed by the traditional Powhiri followed by traditional Chinese lion dance, local and international cultural performances. The highlight of the carnival included food stalls, craft stalls, Costume Carnival Parade, theatre and dance. The two day festival extravaganza would conclude in style with a spectacular display of fireworks. The First International Carnival hoped to bring Auckland together through fun and excitement and focus on giving back to our children and our communities to raise awareness and promote positive attitude to live life to the fullest.
On the same day, the First and only Chinese Television station WTV also held a carnival in Telstraclear Pacific Events Centre. Besides mouth-watering food from various food stalls to tantalise the taste buds, cultural performances were also staged.
