Fo Guang Shan (North Island) NZ- Beautiful Bamboo Attracted Basketry Expert

When Mr Yi visited the temple and saw the beautifully grown bamboo within the temple grounds, it reminded him of his friend Li-Jung Tseng who is currently in the basketry industry. On 20 October, they visited Abbess Manshin and Miss Tseng shared her bitter sweet journey in basketry, basketry technique, the quality of the bamboo, their variety and so on. Miss Tseng has been in this industry for almost 14 years and was invited by Alishan Arts Promotion Committee to exhibit her Basketry art pieces on 25 & 26 September. She related basketry to her Buddhist cultivation.Whenever she felt upset or moody, she would devote her time to basketry to help her focus on the positive side of things. Although there might be times when her career took a setback , encouragement and praises of her work got her back on her feet again. Abbess emphasised that it was a tough process to break through one’s old self and thoughts. However, it is a part of the growing up process. She wished her all the best and looked forward to her latest creations.
