01 / 05

Fo Guang Youths Patrick and Vigee, together with their friend Jacky, joint ventured in a Gift shop in New Market. On 18 October, 30 people included Fo Guang Shan (North Island) NZ Abbess Manshin, Venerable Manwang, Venerable Jue Hao, Venerable Miao Yu, President Dolly Tsai , BLIA members, relatives and friends were invited to attend the blessing ceremony at their new gift shop, presided over by Abbess Manshin.

The new shop is brightly lit and elegantly decorated, selling a variety of items such as teapots, ornaments, candles and so forth. Patrick dropped the idea of investing in a Pub after learning Buddhism and attended the 2010 International Way of Life Youth Camp held in Taiwan in August where he had a chance to meet Master Hsing Yun. He decided to practise the Right livelihood and Right action of the Noble Eightfold Path, and dharma as a guideline for his career. He hoped to be successful in his venture so as to contribute to society and also to propagate the Dharma.

Abbess Manshin explained the significance of the blessing ceremony; blessings from the Buddha, friends and relatives give us energy to move forward. However, one also has to work hard to cultivate wisdom and compassion, unfold the inner potential, be enthusiastic and creative in life. She wished him success in his future endeavours and presented Master Hsing Yun’s books as a gift.
