Fo Guang Shan NZ (North Island) Forthcoming Cherry Blossom Festival

01 / 04

It’s spring time again! Fo Guang Shan NZ (North Island) cherry blossoms are a popular spring feature among the locals and the Cherry Blossom Festival has become an annual event since 2006. It attracts thousands of people each year. On 6 October 2010, local newspaper Howick & Pakuranga Times reporter Chris Harrowell and photographer Wayne Martin visited the temple. They were hosted by Venerable Jue Guan, BLIA Vice president Linda and English Sub-chapter President Lesley. They took photographs under the cherry blossom trees to promote the forthcoming Cherry Blossom Festival on 16 & 17 October. Cherry blossom trees are all over the temple grounds and add dashes of pink to the landscape. Photographer Wayne Martin took a few photographs of the cherry blossoms with the Tang Dynasty temple buildings as the background. The magnificent pictures will definitely captivate the hearts of all nature loving New Zealanders.
