Takapuna Architect Group Visited Fo Guang Shan (North Island)
On Wednesday 15th September, 27 members of the Takapuna Architect Group visited Fo Guang Shan North Island. The group participated in Thai Chi and Meditation before taking a guided tour of the Temple.
The attendees thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the features of the Temple from tour guides Lesley and Rebecca and were astonished by the large scale of the buildings and courtyard. The glorious, hand crafted statue of Sakyamuni Buddha in the main shrine also amazed many members of the group.
Some of the attendees had a chance to visit the photography exhibition in the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery. Those with experience working in art galleries were very impressed with the expert way the art is displayed.
Following the temple tour, the group enjoyed a delicious vegetarian lunch in the Tea House before returning home. Many of the attendees plan to visit the temple again to spend more time observing the architecture, looking through the exhibitions, and appreciating the peaceful environment.
