BLIA New Zealand (North Island) Monthly Meeting
On 12 September, BLIA (North Island) New Zealand held its’ monthly meeting attended by President Dolly Tsai, 20 BLIA Directors and Venerable Miaoyu.
In her speech, the President expressed her sincere gratitude to all members for making the Ullambana Festival a success. It was also a blessing there were no fatalities in the Canterbury Earthquake on 4 September.
Thereafter, the President of each sub-chapter reported their monthly activities.
Matters that were discussed during the meeting:
1) BLIA (North Island) Joint Birthday celebration for members whose birthdays fall in October, November and December.
2) BLIA (North Island) Directors’ Seminar.
3) 2010 BLIA (North Island) Annual General Meeting and the establishment of the Working Adult Sub Chapter. Please discuss.
4) BLIA (North Island) beach clean-up activity promoting the three acts of goodness.
Venerable Miaoyu expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all members for their concern. Fo Guang Shan (South Island) members and volunteers have shown strength and unity in coming to terms with the disaster. Although there were numerous aftershocks, she reiterated the importance of recitation of the Buddha’s name for peace of mind.
