Taiwan Kaohsing Hospitality College Associate Professor Visits Fo Guang Shan (North island)
On 10 September, Taiwan Kaohsing Hospitality College Technician Associate Professor Chiao Mo Chen, accompanied by BLIA Central sub chapter Vice president Tony Huang visited Fo Guang Shan (North Island) and were hosted by Venerable Jueguan and BLIA President Dolly Tsai. They were shown around the temple and visited Liao Tian Zhao’s Stone Teapot Exhibition, Master Hsing Yun’s One stroke calligraphy and were introduced to the unique architecture of the temple. Professor Chia Mo Chen was duly impressed with the temple and its’ serene ambience.
Professor Chen has won many Taiwanese and International Culinary awards over the years and was cordially invited by the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission ROC (Taiwan) to promote Taiwanese delicacies and to help Taiwanese migrants who are in the catering industry to advance their culinary skills and business strategies.
In the wake of growing awareness of the importance of healthy food and concerns about the environment, and with the encouragement of many friends, Professor Chen is now in the midst of researching a substitute for meat as a means to promote vegetarianism. He was totally impressed by the decor and the sumptuous vegetarian food served in the temple’s teahouse and was amazed that vegetarian food has attracted a considerable following among local kiwis. “The many benefits of vegetarian food should be promoted all over the world.” concluded Tony Huang
