U3A Members Visited Again their Beloved Embroidery
Members of U3A, the University of the Third Age, visited FGY Art Gallery Christchurch on 25th May. Mrs. Maureen Mander who organised the visit said that they have been longing for the artworks by Yao Hong Ying ever since they had seen them last year. The comeback of Artist Yao’s artworks was “music to the ears” for U3A’s members who could not wait to visit the Art Gallery again.
The group of 17 people were warmly welcome by the Art Gallery volunteers and Art Gallery Public Relations Officer Seeshen Lee took them through the Gallery and gave commentaries on various pieces of Yao’s works. The group listened attentively and asked questions about the techniques and materials involved in the creation of the masterpieces which were so stunning for their intricacy and beauty. No matter how many times the visitors went over the artworks or how much time they had spent in doing so, they just could not get enough of it.
The most spectacular aspect of Yao’s works is the life and energy she endows her works. The group were ready to come back once again for more astonishing moments when the remainder of the art works are put on display.
