BLIA (North Island) English Etiquette Workshop
On 11 September, BLIA (North Island) cordially invited Ann Batten to conduct a three –day English Etiquette workshop to promote proper table manners and 11 BLIA members attended. Although in general, Europeans are very particular about good table manners, the practices may not necessarily be the same throughout Europe, said Anne Batten, and this workshop will be based on the English practice. As the saying goes: “ Manners maketh the man” ,thus in Britain and New Zealand, people are judged by their table manners. The BLIA members were taught the basic manners for example things one should or should not do during meals and the proper way of holding the spoon and fork. The course also provided the members an opportunity to clarify their doubts and misconceptions about the English etiquette. The participants will put into practice what they have learnt and enjoy a formal meal together at the end of the third lesson.
