Visitors Braved the Cold Rain to Visit Exhibition
Christchurch had cold, miserable and wet weather on 19th May, yet within the walls of the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery of Christchurch, apparent was a sense summer full of life and warmth. Mrs Velma Clarke of the Bishopdale Caring and Sharing Group of Christchurch brought a group of 17 good friends to the Art Gallery to appreciate Yao Hong Ying’s Embroidery Exhibition.
Art Gallery Public Relations Officer Seeshen Lee took the group on guided tour. Most of the ladies from the group missed out on last year’s exhibition because they had only learnt about Artist Yao from their friends after the exhibition had closed, and this time they made it a point not to miss it again. After seeing the exhibition, everyone found Yao’s works, the culmination of more than 30 years experience, to be rather extraordinary and vivid.
The tour guide also brought the group upstairs to see the Fay’s Hand-Painted China Exhibition which had left them in awe. Seeshen also gave them a guided tour to the Temple. In the eyes of the visitors, the serene and peaceful Temple appeared to be an undisturbed hermit amidst the hustle and bustle of Riccarton Road.
The ladies wrapped up their fun-filled visit to the Temple and Art Gallery with afternoon tea at the Water Drop Café. The visitors thanked the Temple for bringing to Christchurch such a wonderful art exhibition space.
