Fo Guang Shan (North Island) Temple Tours

01 / 05

On 2 September, Fo Guang Shan (North Island) conducted 2 separate temple tours. They were from Michael Park School consisting of 20 students aged 16 and 12 retirees from ‘A Day Out’ group respectively. English Sub-chapter volunteers Lesley, Edith, Rebecca and Daisy conducted the tour, tai chi and explained the significance of the temple’s architecture. The response was overwhelming as the eager to learn students kept asking questions about Buddhism, its symbolism and teachings. The volunteers were happy to answer all of them. Although the 12 retirees were slow in their movements due to old age, the volunteers were very patient and ensured that all the grandpas and grandmas were well taken care of. In the late afternoon, Venerable Zhi Xiu and 3 other venerables also visited the temple, ‘One stroke calligraphy exhibition’ and also ‘Liao Tian Zhao stone teapot exhibition’. They were hosted by Venerable Jue Guan.
