Ullambana Festival and The Three Period of Contemplation Dharma Service

On 22 August, Fo Guang Shan (North Island) held the Ullambana Festival and also the Three Period of Contemplation Dharma Service. Abbess Manshin presided over the ceremony and it was attended by 200 devotees, including Vicky and Patrick who attended the International Way of Life Youth Camp in Taiwan early this month.Abbess reminded us that the way to realise our Buddhahood requires one to cultivate right view, compassion, wisdom, being able to let go and ultimately, the realization of non-self. She encouraged everyone to get rid of defilements and purify our minds under the guidance of the Dharma. This practice will also benefit our ancestors, family and friends.Vicky and Patrick were invited to share their experience in the International Way of Life Youth Camp and the joy of meeting Master Hsing Yun. The ceremony ended about 5pm.
