On 25 July, 140 BLIA members got together in Fo Guang Shan (North Island) Guang Ming Hall for the Recitation of “Prayer to Guan Yin Bodhisattva” Competition organized by BLIA East 2 Sub-chapter which attracted 7 participating groups. Abbess Manshin, 5 Venerables and 4 other BLIA members made up the panel of judges.
Central Subchapter’s pot lids and wooden fish accompaniment during the Prayer recitation has appealed to the audience and judges. Hence, it was not surprising that they took the first prize. The second prize went to East 1 sub-chapter whereby they recited the Prayer in 5 different languages, i.e Mandarin, English, Taiwanese, Vietnamese and Cantonese. The English Sub-chapter composed music especially for the prayer and clinched the third prize. Other participants included The YAD, East 2 Chapter, Bodhi Study Class and Compassionate Study Class.
Abbess Manshin expressed her gratitude to BLIA committee members for organizing this event and to all the people who had actively participated in this competition and made this event so successful.
