Embroidered “Peonies” Become Senior Citizens’ Goss

01 / 08

The current Yao Hong Ying Embroidery Art Exhibition at FGY Art Gallery South Island had attracted many groups of Kiwi seniors on 13th May. These seniors are the elders of their families, and who have considerable influence over them. Last year, it is because of the seniors’ efforts in “word-of-mouth” publicity, that Yao Hong Ying’s Embroidery had taken Christchurch by storm.

When the seniors participated in a guided tour of the embroidery artworks taken by Art Gallery Public Relations Officer Seeshen Lee, they continually praised each and piece as they went through the Gallery, while several guests could not help but gaze at the works in awe. The “Music Offering Deity” and “Wealth Bringing Koi Fish” were certainly pieces which brought to the seniors elated feelings, and the grand-sized “A Hundred Butterflies” and “Flourishing Peonies” became a hot topic.

The seniors were happy to be able to see the works of an embroidery grandmaster, and regarded highly the atmosphere of the Art Gallery as well as the vibrant guided tour. 55 seniors visited the Temple that day.
