YAD Learn about the Twelve Causal Conditions
On 7th May, BLIA YAD members had their first Temple Day class for the month of May. During the class, Venerable Juexi discoursed on the “Twelve Causal Conditions”, and those present included YAD 1 President Jason Liu, YAD 2 President Danny Chen and eight other YAD members.
With the topic of “coming into life” as point of departure, the Venerable led the youth in thinking about the origins of life. The Venerable explained that “consciousness” is the core of life, and regardless of where one is reborn, “consciousness” does not change, and thus, we should establish a positive and healthy attitude to life, and this life time, establish good “causes”, so that we may bear good “results” in our next life.
The Venerable also explained that life is like a cycle, and that even a fetus is considered an individual life form, thus abortions are an act of killing. On the topic of killing, committing suicide cannot solve the problems of the current life. Through attending the class, the YAD members came to understand the concept of causes and conditions as it relates to life. At the same time, the young lives learnt to cherish their lives and respect for the importance of it, and were encouraged to be courageous in the face of adversity as well as grateful to their parents for the care and education they had provided over the years.
