What kind of person should I be?
Wednesday Dharma Class – 7 July
The discussion focussed on - What kind of person should I be?
• Like a mirror - before looking at others to blame or judge, reflect upon ourselves. Are we blameless? Are we causing the behaviour?
• Like a briefcase - pick things up when necessary and then let them go. When something adverse happens - accept it, deal with it, let it go.
• Like a colour pen – beautify and improve your life. Be creative, happy, and optimistic. Appreciate those that add colour to our world – artists, architects, gardeners, designers and so on.
• Like a notebook – so we can remember, reflect and learn. So we can record our successes and failures.
• Like a candle – to brighten up people’s lives, provide a compass for others. To contribute our knowledge, skills, compassion and wisdom for the benefit of others. To provide convenience, joy, hope and confidence to others.
• Like a clock – Reminds us to keep on keeping on when the going gets tough. To look forward. Time treats everyone the same, we should try to emulate that. To cherish each present moment because it soon passes.
